I Love/Hate Rom-Coms

As I lay in bed wondering what to watch before I fall asleep, Something light-hearted and easy to follow. How about a Romantic Comedy? Yes! Netflix’s has just released its own original movie

The Kissing Booth Movie Poster

called ‘The Kissing Booth’, Staring Joey King (White House Down) and Jacob Elordi (Swinging Safari). A typical Rom-Com story two people fall in love Yadda, Yadda, Yadda (you know how it goes plus I don’t want to give the storyline away in case you wish to watch it). I found the storyline okay, there are issues I take with Rom-Coms one is that they are completely unreal. The lead characters are always a really pretty lady and a very attractive ripped bodied bloke. It’s never average looking people or nerdy people. Reason I say nerdy is that I am a radio nerd. I challenge you to name me one film where both of the lead characters are nerdy. The films also have a very dramatic Hollywood ending.

So I love to watch Rom-Coms, I love snuggling up and watching them. It’s very different watching them on your own, no one to snuggle up with and enjoy the film with.

With the Hollywood endings. I just wish I could have that with someone, the Hollywood ending I am talking about is when the two people realise that they are in love with each other and go on to live happily ever after. The Rom-Com stories are never about someone meeting on Tinder or a dating app and living happily ever after.  I am currently single and still looking for my Hollywood Rom-Com movie.

Stuart.
